Lava Cap is a small family-owned winery nestled high in the Sierra Foothills. The Jones family has been dedicated to the production of premium estate bottled wines utilizing only mountain-grown grapes since 1986. Lava Cap’s high mountain setting—2,600 feet elevation—provides cool growing conditions and its undulating hills composed of prime volcanic soil provide a variety of microclimates to grow a range of grape varieties.That’s what drove the family of geologists to the land in the first place. Back in 1981, the entire family rolled up its sleeves and transformed a pear orchard into a vineyard. Today, this third generation family farm is thriving and producing over 15 award-winning wines.

The Jones family invites you to sample their wines in their tasting room—open daily from 10am to 5pm (except major holidays). They welcome guests to settle back at a table on the deck or in the garden area to appreciate their favorite Lava Cap wine, enjoy a picnic and savor the beautiful vineyard views.
