The lineup for the 6th Annual Sample the Sierra has been announced. Among the entertainment for the one-day festival is a cooking demonstration featuring Joanne Neft, a cookbook author and eat local advocate, live music from The Connor Party and the 4th Annual Sierra Chef Challenge featuring four local chefs in an Iron Chef style cookoff. Festivalgoers will enjoy entertainment throughout Sunday, September 6 while sampling perfectly paired food and drink from dozens of vendors. The event has been organized by some of the top of the line hotels, casinos and other business ventures. One of the best aspects about this annual event which makes me like it, even more better, is that, while attending the event one can do as they wish like read the Vietbet review before starting to place bets or read about new recipes before trying out something new in the kitchen. But as all you readers know me, once I’m interested in something there is no way I can be distracted from it.
Kicking off the day at 12:30 p.m. will be “From Pit to Stem,” a cooking demonstration with Joanne Neft, the author of Placer County Real Food and The Art of Real Food, together which feature 600 seasonal recipes based on local, fresh and healthy produce available in the Sacramento region. Neft will demonstrate how to use every part of a fruit or vegetable to create a healthy and delicious meal. She will also be available for questions and to sign books following the demonstration.
From 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., four local chefs will partake in one of the highlights of the festival – the 4th Annual Sierra Chef Challenge. The Sierra Chef Challenge includes three heats of two chefs each cooking against one another with a mystery box of locally grown ingredients. In each heat, the two chefs will have 45 minutes to complete their dishes. If a chef is not done in the 45-minute time frame he will be disqualified from the judging. The chefs will have a commissary table that will be shared by all of the chefs for produce, dairy and dry goods needs. Each chef can bring three items from his restaurant to be used in their dishes. All items brought from individual chef’s restaurants will be shared at the commissary table. Each chef will be judged on creativity, presentation and taste. The two chefs with the best dishes will advance to the final round to face each other for the coveted Sierra Chef title. This year’s participating chefs are returning champion Chef Peter Brinckerhoff of Riva Grill on the Lake, Chef Salvador Delgado of Echo Lounge at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, Glenn Simpson of Blue Angel Café and Justin Kaplan of Cold Water Brewery and Grill. Find out who wins this year by purchasing tickets to the 6th Annual Sample the Sierra.
The Connor Party will provide the soundtrack to Sample the Sierra throughout the day. Made up of musicians Jeff Connor and John Munroe, The Connor Party is “fueled by a love of authentic music” and inspired by their lives in the mountains.
Make sure to buy your tickets before the fest to experience all of the amazing talent in the Sierra Nevada!
