The recovery and normalcy we were all so ready for no longer appear to be the outlook for fall. We are extremely heartbroken to make this announcement today. The return of Sample the Sierra on September 18th is now canceled. All ticket purchases are being refunded automatically.
The South Lake Tahoe community has yet again reached a pivot point to prepare for business changes. We made our decision due to combined factors: numerous vendors’ staffing shortages, rising Delta variant cases, and effects of wildfires near the region. The Caldor Fire near Lake Tahoe has displaced thousands of residents and so far initiated many closures of roads and parks. We are offered challenges beyond anyone’s control, and we are sharing these with you to provide transparency in our decision.
It is with sadness that we cannot go through with the elevated experience and carefree celebration we hoped for.
We are grateful to all of you for being supportive: to our attendees, especially our yearly returners that have been eager to come back, to our vendors who amidst the staffing storage want to fuel this festival, and to our amazing sponsors.
Our team will find a way to continue to celebrate our local bounty and beloved vendors.
